How to Keep Your Makeup Flawless All Day|Tips for Long Shoots in Singapore

When I work on bridal or long photoshoots, one of the most common comments I hear from clients is:

“My makeup didn’t budge, even by the evening!”

This doesn’t come from using a ton of products. The key is preparing the base properly.
If your foundation is unstable, even the most beautiful makeup can fall apart quickly.
Here, I’ll share tips for keeping your makeup flawless during long hours of shooting in Singapore.

Oil Control Is Key for Long-Lasting Makeup

Most makeup products contain oil.
Too much or too little oil can cause makeup to break down, and in Singapore’s hot and humid climate:

more oil = faster breakdown

Key areas to watch:

  • Oil from skincare products
  • Oil in primers and foundation
  • Oil around the eyes

Especially in the base makeup stage, oil-rich products are common.
Completely eliminating excess oil is essential before you start building the base.

Why Dewy Finishes Can Be Risky in Singapore

In Japan, a popular method is “less powder + natural glow from the base,”
but in Singapore, this usually doesn’t last.

The reason:

  • High heat and humidity
  • Big differences between outdoor and indoor temperatures

Instead, I recommend:

  • Matte base finish
  • Avoid heavy layering
  • Apply lightly and evenly

This light matte finish keeps your makeup lasting longer in Singapore.
It’s matte, but not powdery—think smooth, natural matte.

Eye Area: Oil-Free Is a Must

Common evening issues:

  • Darkening under the eyes
  • Smudged eyeliner
  • Mascara running

The main culprit? Oil around the eyes.
If eye makeup sits on top of oil, shadows and mascara will slide and smudge.

Here’s what I do on set:

  • Thoroughly remove oil around the eyes with a tissue
  • Apply only a thin layer of primer if necessary
  • Use powder to set and secure the base

For the eye area, matte is always best.

Quick Summary: What to Remember

Here’s a checklist you can start using immediately:

Matte base finish
→ Smooth, oil-free foundation
Avoid heavy layers
→ Apply lightly only where needed
Check oil around the eyes
→ Most smudging and darkening comes from residual oil

To check, lightly touch the back of your hand or fingers—if it feels sticky or tacky, remove excess oil before proceeding.
