Singapore is a unique blend of cultures, ethnicities, and traditions. Naturally, bridal styles here are wonderfully diverse, making every wedding an inspiring and enriching experience for me as a hair and makeup artist.
As an international artist, I am deeply honored when couples entrust me with such an important chapter of their lives. Learning about their traditions along the way allows me to share truly memorable moments with each couple.
In this post, I’d like to highlight a magnificent multicultural wedding featuring a Chinese bride and a Malay groom. I had the privilege of styling the bride, the groom, and both of their parents throughout this special day.

Bride’s Requests & Key Points
Look 1 – Traditional Chinese Wedding Ceremony
- Makeup: Cohesive red tones tailored for the traditional attire
- Hair: Low twin buns for a sophisticated yet charming look
Look 2 – Wedding Reception
- Makeup: Rose-toned, elegant natural makeup
- Hair: A refined low chignon
Concerns / Requests to Avoid
- Oily / shine-prone skin texture
- Avoid overly metallic, glittery, or harsh makeup finishes

Hair & Makeup on the Wedding Day
Look 1 – Traditional Chinese Wedding Ceremony
We began the day early in the morning at the bride’s home to prepare for the traditional Tea Ceremony.
- Makeup: A harmonious red-toned look designed to complement the intricate embroidery of the Qua (traditional gown)
- Hair: Low twin buns, adding a playful yet elegant touch to the classic aesthetic

Look 1 – The Evening Reception
For the second part of the day, we moved to The Warehouse Hotel to prepare for the evening reception.
During our consultation, the bride expressed a desire to completely reset her makeup before transitioning into her second look. With ample time allocated in our schedule, we fully cleansed and prepped her skin from scratch, creating a fresh, radiant canvas for Look 2.
- Makeup: An understated, polished rose-toned palette that enhanced her features under the evening lights. Natural-looking false lashes added soft volume without feeling heavy
- Hair: A compact, chic low chignon for a dignified and timeless silhouette.
